MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES

  • FELLOW
    A physician who is a Fellow of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) Must have passed both the written and practical examinations given by the Philippine Board for Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (PBURPS) All Fellows since inception of the PSURPS and at time of adoption of the revised Constitution and By-Laws shall fall within this category
  • LIFE MEMBER
    A Fellow of PSURPS who has served the Society as President A fellow of PSURPS who is in good standing for twenty-five (25) years or has reached the age of sixty-five (65) years
  • HONORARY FELLOW
    Someone who has been recommended to and accepted by the PSURPS membership in its entirety and has served the Society and advanced urogynecology with distinction He/she has no right to vote or be voted upon; though entitled to affix the letters FPSURPS (Hon.)
  • JUNIOR MEMBER
    A physician who has completed an accredited fellowship training in Urogynecology in the Philippines or minimum of 12 consecutive months in an IUGA-recognized training program. Must be a member and should maintain good standing with the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, Inc. (POGS). Must have submitted and satisfactorily passed the documentary requirements set by PBURPS Must have taken the PBURPS certifying examination part 1 (written) on or before the 30th of November, on the year of acceptance of application Must satisfactorily pass the PBURPS part 1 (written) and part 2 (practical) certifying examinations within two years of application Failure to satisfactorily pass the said certifying examinations within two years will result in loss of junior membership status Must pay annual dues promptly as determined by PSURPS Does not hold voting rights in PSURPS.
  • Rights and Privileges of Fellows
    Entitled to participate in all official functions of the Society Shall have the right to vote except when one is an Honorary member or a Junior member Shall be entitled to a Certificate of Membership and a Certificate of Good Standing Have the right to affix the letters FPSURPS after his/her name Members may receive honoraria for services rendered that are funded by international and national development agencies and societies for specific services and projects.
  • Duties and Obligations
    Shall at all times maintain the high standards of professional conduct set forth in the Membership pledge of the Society. Shall conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the tenets and principles of the Code of Medical Ethics of the Medical Profession in the Philippines. Shall pay all dues, fees, and assessment promptly. Shall attend at least 75% of the Society’s activities and the two required general assembly meetings (January and July) Must be a member of and should maintain good standing with the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) and Philippine Medical Association (PMA). A Junior member in addition to above duties and obligations shall enroll in a postgraduate course/convention in Urogynecology at least once every two (2) years.
  • Dues, Fees, and Assessments
    All members shall pay all dues, fees, and assessments in the amount and terms as determined by the Officers and Board. A member with unpaid dues for three (3) consecutive years, despite proper notification and demand to pay shall be referred to the Committee on Credentials and Membership for proper action. A member who has retired due to sickness, or any other reasons shall apply for exemption from payment of dues, otherwise, he/she shall be considered in arrears. Life members, Honorary Fellows, members who are sixty-five (65) years old and above shall be exempted from payment of annual dues.
  • Disciplinary Provisions, Censure, Suspension, Expulsion, or Automatic Termination of Membership
    Upon recommendation of the Committee on Ethics and Medical Practice, the Executive Board PSURPS shall censure, suspend, or expel a member for culpable violation of these By-Laws or violation of Medical Ethics. Charges against a member must be made in writing and under oath and shall be delivered to the Secretary, who shall immediately furnish a copy to the member concerned, the Committee on Ethics and Medical Practice, and the Executive Board. The member who has been charged shall have the right to be informed and reply to the charges. The Committee on Ethics and Medical Practice, shall evaluate the charges and the reply thereto, and submit its recommendation to the Executive Board for appropriate action. The decision of the Executive Board shall be final.
  • Automatic Termination of Membership
    After due notification by the Executive Board of PSURPS, the member concerned shall be automatically dropped from the rolls for failure to comply with the duties and obligations as outlined in the revised Administrative Manual 2023, unless said member is able to submit valid reasons for failure to comply.
  • Reinstatement Requirements
    A Fellow who has been dropped from the Roll of Members shall be reinstated as such upon compliance with the requirements set forth by the Executive Board of PSURPS.
  • Fellow in Good Standing
    Must have complied with the attendance requirements of the Society. Must be updated in payment of his/her financial obligations. Must not be under censure nor under suspension by PSURPS.

    • Submission Deadline for Portfolio: August 31, 2025

    • Schedule of Written Examination: November 30, 2025

*List of eligible examinees will be released no later than October 30, 2025
